We are a digital download art shop selling restored pre-Code 1950s horror, crime, sci-fi and war comic cover art. Pre-Code means American comics published before the 1954 Comics Code Authority: raw, graphic and now highly collectible.
Pre-Code horror comics helped trigger a moral panic and government hearings. Juvenile delinquency and other deviant behaviour were blamed on comic books. Publishers went out of business and artists lost their livelihoods. Every piece a customer sees carries the story of art once deemed too dangerous for America.
We are not selling digital files. I am selling a curated experience of forbidden art history.
Voodoo Ink Press is a curator, not an aggregator. Every cover is hand-selected and assigned to a thematic collection. This is not a bulk scrape. There is a comic aficionado, a special someone behind every cover pick.
